Ethiopian athlete Sisay Lemma posts a time of 2:04.01 to take first place in the elite men's London Marathon.

Ethiopia's Sisay Lemma took his first elite men's London Marathon crown with a dominant performance in Saturday's race.

The 30-year-old - who achieved a third-placed finish in last year's edition - comfortably took the title with a time of 2:04.01, 25 seconds off his personal best of 2:03.36 set in Berlin in 2019.

Vincent Kipchuma and Mosinet Geremew took second and third respectively with times of 2:04.28 and 2:04.41, but the day belonged to Lemma as he secured Ethiopia's second successive London Marathon elite men's win after Shura Kitata Tola's - who placed sixth - triumph last year.

Paying tribute to Lemma's performance, Paula Radcliffe told BBC Sport: "To be winning the London Marathon, there is no better feeling. This is something Sisay Lemma will have worked towards and trained towards for a long time."

Phil Sesemann - taking part in his home race for the very first time - finished as the fastest Brit in seventh with a time of 2:12.58, while compatriot Joshua Griffiths placed eighth with 2:13.39.
