Emma Raducanu bows out injured in her first-round Nottingham Open match with Viktorija Golubic, sparking fears over her fitness for Wimbledon.

British number one Emma Raducanu's injury woes plagued her once again as she was forced to retire from her Nottingham Open first-round match with Viktorija Golubic.

Having just been broken for 4-3 by her opponent, Raducanu signalled to the umpire that she could not continue in another setback to her Wimbledon preparations.

The 19-year-old was forced to take a medical timeout after breaking for a 2-1 lead on Tuesday before returning to the court to steer two games clear on the grass.

However, the issue continued to bedevil Raducanu, as Golubic quickly stormed back in front courtesy of a three-game winning streak before the Brit called it a day.

Raducanu's early retirement has sparked further fears over her chances of participating at Wimbledon after she was also forced to pull out of the Guadalajara and Italian Opens with injuries earlier this year.

Switzerland's Golubic has advanced to set up a second-round tie with Raducanu's compatriot Heather Watson, and the 29-year-old admitted after the contest that she felt "very sorry" for the teenager after her latest problem.
