St Helens hooker James Roby is cleared to play in the Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final this weekend against Wigan.

James Roby has been cleared to play in the St Helens' Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan after pleading guilty to a dangerous tackle.

The England international, who has been one of Saints' star players this year, was cited for a spear tackle on Castleford's Kirk Dixon during his side's 46-26 Super League triumph on Sunday.

The 25-year-old appeared in front of the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee on Tuesday for the first time in his career, receiving a £500 fine but avoiding a suspension.

St Helens coach Royce Simmons can now focus on team captain and prop James Graham, who suffered a neck injury in Sunday's win.
