Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez is banned from driving for six months after failing to co-operate with police over a motoring incident.

Leicester City's star winger Riyad Mahrez has been banned from driving for six months for a motoring offence.

The 25-year-old admitted to a court that he failed to give information to Northamptonshire Police about who was driving his car on October 16 last year.

Magistrates fined the Algerian £900 and put six points on his driving licence.

The court also ordered Mahrez, who was not in court for sentencing, to pay £150 in costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Earlier this week Mahrez was named as one of the nominees for the PFA Player of the Year, and he is odds-on to win the award having helped the Foxes surge to the top of the Premier League.
