Phil Jagielka regrets 'Tweet of Death' from England friendly

Phil Jagielka reveals that he got teased by his England teammates after tweeting a photo during last week's friendly against Ecuador.

England defender Phil Jagielka has revealed that he received some teasing from his teammates after posting the 'Tweet of Death' during a World Cup warm-up match in Miami.

The Everton centre-back posted an image of himself alongside Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge on the bench during last week's 2-2 draw with Ecuador.

A matter of moments after tweeting the photo, Ecuador took the lead at the Sun Life Stadium, which caused fans to criticise Jagielka on the social networking website.

"I've had a bit of ribbing off the lads," the Daily Mail quotes Jagielka as saying. "It's been classed the 'Tweet of Death'. I'm still early days with Twitter, so please bear with me and I'll try to get better.

"I wouldn't have done it in a game I was involved in, obviously. I wasn't involved and just wanted to wish the boys good luck but it took me too long to work out how to do anything and by the time I'd pressed 'send', literally 20 seconds later, Ecuador scored.

"I was thinking, 'how do I delete this now?', and Bainesy told me, 'you've got no chance, just deal with it.' Everyone took it in fairly good spirits and no-one's too annoyed with me."

England will begin their World Cup campaign against Italy in Manaus on Saturday.
