Scottie Scheffler wins his second PGA Tour title in less than a month by prevailing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Scottie Scheffler has recorded a one-shot victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to claim his second PGA Tour title in less than a month.

Three weeks ago, the world number six came through a playoff with Patrick Cantlay to win the biggest title of his career, and that experience would have benefitted him down the stretch at Bay Hill.

In testing conditions, the big-hitting American played his final nine holes in one-under-par, enough to see him edge out Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland and Billy Horschel.

An eagle on hole 16 had put Gary Woodland in the driving seat, but the former US Open champion proceeded to drop three shots on his final two holes.

Just 10 players finished the tournament under par, including Matthew Fitzpatrick who joined fellow Englishman Hatton in putting together a strong event ahead of next week's Players' Championship.

Rory McIlroy posted his second successive round of 76 to finish in a share of 13th position alongside Northern Ireland compatriot Graeme McDowell, who gained valuable ranking points having fallen down to 399th in the world rankings.
