The Saints have 31 points from 19 games.

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright believes a win at Dundee on Saturday would bring a "remarkable" Ladbrokes Premiership points tally at the turn of the year.

The Perth side got back on track after two defeats with a 1-0 win over St Mirren in Paisley on Boxing Day.

Tony Watt's dramatic 89th-minute winner at the Simple Digital Arena hoisted St Johnstone into the top six with 31 points from 19 fixtures.

Ahead of the Tayside derby against bottom side Dundee, Wright told the club's official website: "The boys put in a really good performance after the disappointment of losing it late against Rangers.

"It was a tough game against a side fighting for their lives and it will be the same again tomorrow at Dens Park.

"Our away form has been excellent and the players have shown a lot of character this season to win games late on.

"We want to finish off the calendar year well with another three points.

"If we can get to 34 points it's a remarkable return at this stage of the season for us."

Wright faces up to Dundee for the first time since the appointment of Jim McIntyre as Neil McCann's replacement in October and the Saints manager noted a change in style at Dens Park.

The Northern Irishman said: "They play at a higher tempo, they definitely move the ball a lot quicker.

"I think that game against Rangers (1-1) where they went down to ten men showed how good Jim is at organising his team defensively as well.

"He gets the best out of his players and makes them difficult to beat so we're under no illusions that it's going to be a tough game.

"We've just got to focus on ourselves and make it a difficult afternoon for them. If we can put in another performance then I'm confident we can get the result."
