Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris hails his relationship with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino as "great" and "one of the closest" in his career.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has hailed his "great" relationship with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino as "one of the closest" in his career.

Lloris, who joined Spurs from Lyon in 2012, has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper since Pochettino took charge of the club.

The French stopper has been influential in his side's performances this term, something which he puts down to his relationship with Argentine coach Pochettino.

"I don't like to compare it, I've always had a good relationship with my managers - but I can't hide that it's maybe the closest," Lloris told Sky Sports News. "We have a great relationship, as manager and player and as men.

"I think from the first moment I understood his philosophy in football, and I try to go between the team and him to act as a leader, even if I have to think about myself too.

"He likes to share, he likes to chat. He is open to discussing football and the thoughts of his players. This is why he works so well, because he's open about some things even if his concept is very dominant at Tottenham."

Spurs, who are fourth in the Premier League standings, play Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
