Rayo Vallecano and Getafe have been relegated from La Liga on the final day of the season.

The former took on bottom-placed Levante at home this evening and recorded a 3-1 victory to give themselves hope of survival, with Pablo Hernandez, Jozabed and Miku all on the scoresheet in Madrid.

However, a first win in five was not enough for Paco Jemez's side as Sporting Gijon also picked up a win, beating fourth-placed Villarreal 2-0 to move one point clear of danger.

Getafe, meanwhile, were beaten 2-1 away to Real Betis to end any hopes of survival as they finished 19th in the table, three points from safety.

Rayo and Getafe join Levante in being relegated to the Segunda Division, with today's defeat to Rayo leaving the basement outfit seven points adrift of safety.
