Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst hails his side's 'magnificent' team performance after beating Celtic 2-1 in extra time in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Sunday.

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has hailed his side's 'magnificent' team performance after coming from behind to beat Old Firm rivals Celtic 2-1 in extra time in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Easter Sunday.

After a goalless first half, Scott Arfield cancelled out Greg Taylor's opener to send the tie in extra time, before an own goal from Hoops defender Carl Starfelt in the 114th minute helped the Gers reach their first Scottish Cup final for seven years.

Rangers capped off a memorable week with a second successive victory in extra time, following their Europa League quarter-final triumph over Braga on Thursday, and Van Bronckhorst has since praised the 'character' of his players for grinding out another impressive result in 120 minutes.

"I'm feeling pretty good and very proud. It's been a busy week for us, very demanding physically, also mentally," the Dutchman told Premier Sports.

"To play extra time two times in four days, the players were magnificent today. We had to dig deep. We did it as a team and we're proud that we're in the final.

"The subs gave the team a lot of energy. It was a tough game because Celtic is a very tough opponent. We knew our character could make the difference.

"It's important to be in the final but the most important thing is to win the final. We haven't won anything yet in the cup. We want to achieve something and the belief is there that we can win the cup."

Rangers will now turn their attention to next Sunday's Premiership trip to Motherwell, before travelling to Germany to face RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on April 28.
