Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong signs fresh terms with the club that will keep him at St James' Park until 2020.

Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at St James' Park.

The 19-year-old has been at Newcastle since the age of nine, but spent last season on loan at Coventry City, where he scored 20 goals.

Armstrong, who earlier today earned his first call-up to England's Under-20 side, has now signed a new contract that will keep him with the Magpies until 2020.

"I'm over the moon. I've been working hard on the training pitch and I did well last season, so to get the reward is massive for me and I think it's the next step," he told the club's official website.

"I went on loan last season and for me to come back here and extend my contract is brilliant for me and for my family. I'll keep working hard every day and progress."

Armstrong could spend the first of those years out on loan, having been linked with a temporary switch to Ipswich Town.
