Timothy Fosu-Mensah will be given the chance to secure his long-term future at Manchester United in the coming weeks.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah will reportedly be given the chance to secure his long-term future at Manchester United in the coming weeks.

The 22-year-old was handed a surprise spot in the starting XI against Crystal Palace on Thursday night due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.

The outing was Fosu-Mensah's first for the Red Devils since the final day of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign, but he impressed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

The Red Devils recently activated a one-year extension in the Dutchman's contract to keep him at the club until next summer, but according to the Manchester Evening News, the defender will be given the chance to secure his long-term future at the club amid interest from Germany.

The report claims that Fosu-Mensah's attitude in training prior to the lockdown made a strong impression on Solskjaer, who could now include the Netherlands international against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The former Ajax youngster has spent the last two seasons on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively.
