Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford comes second to European Golden Boy winner Renato Sanches.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford missed out on winning the European Golden Boy award as he finished second to Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches.

Nineteen-year-old Sanches, who signed for the Bundesliga giants for £27.5m from Benfica in the summer, has scooped the award after helping Portugal win the European Championships.

Rashford, 18, was in contention for the honour after breaking into the United senior team and scoring seven goals in all competitions last season.

The striker, who has found the back of the net four times so far in the current campaign, also netted on his debuts for both club and country.

Last season, United forward Anthony Martial was handed the award after receiving the most votes from 30 newspaper journalists across Europe.

All the candidates must be under the age of 21.
