World-Cup winning Brazil captain Carlos Alberto dies at the age of 72.

Brazil football legend Carlos Alberto has died at the age of 72.

The former right-back captained his nation to World Cup glory in 1970, and scored the iconic fourth goal in the final against Italy.

According to BBC Sport, Alberto passed away in Rio de Janeiro after suffering a heart attack.

The defender, who managed 16 clubs and national sides after retiring from playing in 1982, scored eight goals for Brazil as he represented his country on 53 occasions.

At club level, Alberto made more than 400 appearances for Santos, where he played alongside Pele, while he also had spells at Fluminense, Flamengo and American side New York Cosmos.

The footballer won 11 trophies across his spells at Fluminense and Santos.
