Gary Neville chooses his five best Manchester United signings of the Premier League era, and current star man Bruno Fernandes is overlooked.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has selected his top five Red Devils signings of the Premier League era, and Bruno Fernandes does not make the cut.

During his trophy-laden 19-year spell at Old Trafford, Neville witnessed United welcome some of the Premier League's most celebrated players to the club, as well as those who failed to live up to the hype.

Having claimed 12 Premier League titles during his time as Sir Alex Ferguson's first-choice right-back, Neville knows what it takes to succeed at the club, and he has now picked out his five best signings that United have made since 1992.

Eric Cantona tops the 45-year-old's list ahead of Roy Keane in second and Cristiano Ronaldo in third, while Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic took fourth and fifth respectively.

Justifying his choice to rank Cantona as number one, Neville told Sky Sports News: "Up front in my all-time United team that I played with, I have Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

"But for the best signing that I think Manchester United have made, in terms of £1.2m from Leeds, it's Cantona. Leeds at the time were enemies.

"To get a player off Leeds from £1.2m that then takes you to the league title. It has to be the best signing, it's unbelievable because he's an unbelievable player as well."

Neville struck seven goals in 599 appearances for United across all competitions, and he also bagged 48 assists between 1992 and 2011.
