Manchester United 'paying Carlisle £10,000 per Dean Henderson appearance'

Manchester United are reportedly paying around £10,000 to League Two outfit Carlisle United every time goalkeeper Dean Henderson makes a senior appearance.

Manchester United are reportedly paying around £10,000 to League Two outfit Carlisle United every time goalkeeper Dean Henderson makes a senior appearance.

The 23-year-old joined United's youth academy as a 14-year-old from the Cumbrians back in August 2011 in a deal containing a profitable clause.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils have been forking out a five-figure fee each time Henderson has played for the club since his promotion to the first team this season, after a successful loan spell at Sheffield United.

Henderson has made 13 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring to use the England international in cup competitions with David de Gea his number one choice in the Premier League.

Carlisle, who are pushing for promotion in the fourth tier, have earned £130,000 so far this season with the club expecting to gain more money this campaign.

It is also reported that the Cumbrians have a 5% sell-on clause inserted into their agreement with United, which could see the club earn a hefty sum if the £20m-rated stopper was sold.

Henderson recently signed a new five-year contract at Old Trafford in August last year, keeping him at the club until June 2025 and seeing him earn around £100,000 a week.
