Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera admits that his side were not at their best during the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has admitted that his side were not at their best during their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho's side needed an 88th-minute winner from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to come away with all three points from Selhurst Park after James McArthur had earlier cancelled out Paul Pogba's opener.

The victory saw United stay within six points of the top four, and Herrera praised the passion shown by Mourinho after the match when he ran onto the pitch to celebrate with his players.

"You saw him. Even more in the dressing room, he is so passionate and thinks the same as us - that we deserve to have more points and that is why he was so happy," he told reporters.

"We are so happy because we showed our spirit, this was not our best game but even on a day where we didn't play our best game we created six or seven chances.

"To be honest I prefer to win earlier because you feel more calm and can control the game better, but a win is a win. It is even more important when all of our opponents won, only Arsenal lost, and we are so happy."

United now turn their attention to Saturday's match with West Bromwich Albion, who currently sit just one place behind them in the table.
