Henrikh Mkhitaryan is hopeful that he will be back on the pitch "very soon" after suffering an injury on international duty with Armenia.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has claimed that he hopes to return to action for Manchester United "very soon" after suffering an injury while on international duty.

The 27-year-old, who signed for the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window, limped off the pitch while representing Armenia in an international friendly against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

The Armenian FA has released a statement claiming that the results of a scan are "not encouraging" for Mkhitaryan.

Today, the player tweeted: "My dear fans, I appreciate much that you worry about me, thank you! I'm now back in Manchester for treatment and hope to be fit very soon!"

Mkhitaryan is expected to miss next Saturday's clash against fierce local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.
