David de Gea, Antonio Valencia ruled out of Manchester United pre-season game

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal announces that David de Gea and Antonio Valencia will miss the club's pre-season friendly match against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that keeper David de Gea and winger Antonio Valencia are out of their friendly against the San Jose Earthquakes.

The Spaniard missed the first match of United's pre-season tour against Club America with a minor injury, while Valencia will also be absent as he is still recovering from an ankle problem.

Van Gaal told reporters: "They've visited hospital today and they cannot play on Tuesday."

United will face the Earthquakes at Kabam Field.
