Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne claims that his side are still on course for "an unbelievable season" despite relinquishing their Premier League title to Liverpool.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that the Citizens would have enjoyed "an unbelievable season" if they manage to achieve FA Cup and Champions League glory.

Pep Guardiola's side have already tasted domestic success with their triumph in the EFL Cup, but City were forced to see their Premier League title reign come to an early end as Liverpool won their first English top-flight crown for 30 years on Thursday.

City still have plenty to play for as the season continues, though, with Guardiola's side set to take on Newcastle United in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final clash before hosting Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie next month.

"We have still got big chances in the FA Cup and Champions League. Imagine if we come out after winning these cups, it will be an unbelievable season," De Bruyne said in quotes attributed to The Guardian.

"We have got a lot to play for and look forward to it. You are always disappointed when you don't win. But we are honest enough to say Liverpool were better this year.

"We worked really hard, we played really well but we weren't good enough and that's no problem for us to admit. If everything goes to plan for us then I think we still have 13 or 14 games [remaining], so we still have a lot to play for and a lot of objectives."

De Bruyne has enjoyed a particularly impressive campaign with City this term, registering 11 goals and 19 assists across all competitions for the Citizens.
