Vincent Kompany says that Man City will treat next opponents Wigan Athletic just like any other side they have faced this term, as the hunt for a quadruple goes on.

Captain Vincent Kompany has warned rival sides that Manchester City do not intend to ease up in their pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.

The Citizens remain on course for a huge haul of silverware after blowing away Basel in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, prevailing 4-0 winners in Basel on Tuesday evening.

City are also 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League and into the final of the EFL Cup, while Wigan Athletic are up next for a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Having lost just twice in all competitions throughout a memorable campaign, Kompany insists that his side will continue to put in 100% effort as the finishing line approaches.

"It's cliche but our mindset is just focus on the next game. We have just as much desire to play well against Wigan on Monday as we did here in Basel. There will be no difference," he told reporters after the match at St Jakob-Park.

"We will also go into the League Cup final with the same kind of preparation and self-belief as we did for the game here and, as long as that doesn't change, and the intensity stays at that level, every game is exciting for us.

"The key thing for me was the effort was just as good as in all previous games. Our intensity in covering the ball, our passing, our movement - there were so many good things to take out of this game. OK, we could be more clinical but it was 4-0. We have got a return game to have another good performance."

City follow up next Monday's FA Cup tie at Wigan with back-to-back games against Arsenal in the EFL Cup and Premier League.
