Liverpool reportedly show an interest in signing Rennes midfielder Benjamin Andre before the end of the transfer window.

Rennes midfielder Benjamin Andre has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool.

Ahead of their return to Europe, manager Jurgen Klopp has been keen to strengthen in the middle of the pitch, an issue which has become more important since the exit of Lucas Leiva.

The Merseyside giants have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, but it appears that Klopp has identified an alternative.

According to Le Telegramme, Liverpool are considering whether to make a move for Andre, who could cost in excess of £15m.

The 26-year-old has a long-term contract in place at the Ligue 1 side, where the Frenchman has made 90 league appearances since joining the club in 2014.

Andre has previously won seven caps at Under-21 level for his country.
