Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says that Sky Sports pundits Thierry Henry and Gary Neville made "stupid" comments about his ability earlier this season.

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has acknowledged that it was "not nice" to be criticised by Sky Sports pundits Thierry Henry and Gary Neville.

Earlier this season, both Henry and Neville questioned why Liverpool had paid £30m to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal after a mixed spell at the Emirates Stadium.

However, after a slow start to his time at Anfield, the England international has been used 33 times by Jurgen Klopp, with four goals and six assists coming in all competitions.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has previously worked alongside both Henry and Neville, and the versatile midfielder has described comments made by the pair as "stupid".

The 24-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I was very aware of those comments, yes. It's not nice to hear from people you've worked with.

"I've worked with them both in different capacities. They can have their opinions. It can't shake me. Fair enough if that's what they think. Those comments are probably a bit stupid.

"Saying, 'You don't know what I do' when you have worked with me, I think it is a bit stupid. When you have watched someone long enough you know what they can do."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has impressed in recent weeks, with assists coming in both of Liverpool's recent wins over West Ham United and Newcastle United.
