A report claims that Leicester City will have to pay £25m in order to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy in this summer's transfer window.

Leicester City reportedly made an enquiry for Everton midfielder James McCarthy, and the Foxes learned that they will have to pay £25m in order to sign the Republic of Ireland international this summer.

McCarthy, 26, missed the majority of last season with a hamstring problem, but is expected to be fit for the start of the new campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare is a big admirer of the midfielder, but is baulking at Everton's £25m asking price after approaching the Toffees in this summer's transfer window.

Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace have previously been linked with a move for McCarthy, who has earned 41 caps for his country.

The midfielder joined Everton from Wigan Athletic in 2013 after four years at the DW Stadium.
