The derby match on February 10 was marred by confrontations between players and staff.

Ipswich and Norwich have both been fined by the Football Association following their recent derby clash, with Town boss Paul Lambert receiving a touchline ban.

The charges relate to the Sky Bet Championship match at Carrow Road on February 10, which saw Lambert sent to the stands following an incident in the technical areas involving staff from both clubs.

Lambert, a former Norwich manager, has been fined £3,000 and given a two-match touchline ban while Ipswich have been fined £20,000 and Norwich £25,000 after players were involved in a melee during the same incident.

The FA said in a statement: “Norwich have been fined £25,000 and Ipswich have been fined £20,000 after accepting a charge for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during both the 45th and 90th minutes, as well as their officials in the 45th minute, of their Championship fixture on February 10 2019.

“In addition, Paul Lambert has been given a two-match touchline ban, effective immediately, and fined £3,000 after he also accepted an FA improper conduct charge concerning his behaviour in the 45th minute of the fixture.”

Lambert did not appeal against the charge but did send a letter to the FA outlining “mitigating circumstances” surrounding the red card he received.

The Scot’s ban means he will be absent from the touchline for Saturday’s trip to Wigan and the home game against Reading on March 2.
