Steve Clarke found himself facing chants of "sad fenian b******" from Rangers fans as Killie crashed to a 5-0 loss in Glasgow.

Kilmarnock plan to raise the issue of manager Steve Clarke's treatment by Rangers fans with the Ibrox club and the Scottish Football Association, Press Association Sport understands.

The Kilmarnock board stood firmly behind Clarke in his condemnation of the sectarian abuse he faced at Ibrox on Wednesday.

Clarke found himself facing chants of "sad fenian b******" from the Rangers support as Killie crashed to a 5-0 William Hill Scottish Cup loss in Glasgow.

After the match Clarke accused the Light Blues faithful of living in the "Dark Ages".

A spokesman for the Rugby Park club said: "The board's position is that they and everyone at the club is fully behind Steve in condemning sectarianism in all its forms.

"There is no place for sectarianism in football or society."

The incident came days after Killie captain Kris Boyd was subjected to sectarian abuse and hit with a coin as he warmed up during a defeat by Celtic.

Meanwhile, Kilmarnock are to appeal against the red card handed to Daniel Bachmann at Ibrox on Wednesday night, the club have confirmed to Press Association Sport.

The Austrian goalkeeper was dismissed 25 minutes into the fifth-round replay after an off-the-ball clash with Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Kamara went down claiming he had been elbowed in the face but Clarke later branded referee Alan Muir's decision a "joke".
