Livi won the clubs' last encounter 5-0.

Hearts manager Craig Levein has warned his players they have to make up for their recent thrashing at Livingston when their top-flight rivals visit Tynecastle in the William Hill Scottish Cup.

But he does not believe motivating his players will be necessary ahead of the fourth-round tie.

Hearts capitulated in West Lothian last month after going a goal and a man down when Arnaud Djoum was sent off, losing another four goals in quick succession to suffer a painful 5-0 defeat.

And the feelings remain raw ahead of Sunday's clash.

"It's going to be tough," Levein said. "We drew 0-0 at Tynecastle earlier in the season, a game we probably should have won, we missed a penalty and some good chances. And then we got our backsides felt a few weeks ago, which was very sore indeed.

"It's something we have to make up for. I don't think motivation will be an issue in this game.

"i don't know how you would describe it but there has got to be a feeling there. We were disappointing in that match and we need to do better, much better."

Levein has not shied away from studying the heavy loss again.

"I think it's important that you look at every game, particularly games you played against opposition you are about to play, because there are things you can learn," he said.

"When I look back at the game, so may things happened in such a short period of time that just knocked everybody off their stride. And I think that is forgivable.

"But we have to make up for it."
