Fulham are reportedly contemplating whether to rival Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Bordeaux forward Hwang Ui-jo.

Fulham reportedly become the latest Premier League club to express an interest in Bordeaux forward Hwang Ui-jo.

Last weekend, Aleksandar Mitrovic netted twice as the newly-promoted side earned a 2-2 draw with last season's Premier League runners-up Liverpool.

When available, Mitrovic will remain as first choice in the Cottagers attack this campaign, with young Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz currently acting as his deputy.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Marco Silva is giving consideration to trying to secure the signature of Hwang.

The 29-year-old is expected to depart Bordeaux before the end of the summer transfer as a result of his club's relegation from Ligue 1.

Despite Bordeaux dropping down to the second tier, Hwang was still able to contribute 11 goals and two assists during the 2021-22 campaign.

That followed a return of 12 strikes and three assists in the previous season, strengthening the feeling that the South Korea international will represent a coup for whoever secures his signature this summer.

Wolves are also known to be monitoring the situation with the West Midlands outfit said to have already lodged a bid for Hwang's services.

Nevertheless, it is claimed that a bid of £2m is only half of Bordeaux's £4m asking price, effectively giving other clubs a chance to meet the French side's demands.

Wolves will be hoping that compatriot and namesake Hwang Hee-chan can help convince his international teammate to join him at Molineux, even if it would put his own place under threat.

These two clubs are no strangers to going head-to-head in the transfer market with Fulham having beat Wolves to the signing of Joao Palhinha earlier in the transfer window.

Should the West Londoners win the race for Hwang, it would come as a further blow to Wolves who have only brought in two fresh faces since the end of last season.

Coincidentally, Wolves play host to Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
