England captain Wayne Rooney bemoans his team's inability to hold on for three points against Russia in their opening match of Euro 2016.

England captain Wayne Rooney has bemoaned his team's inability to hold on for three points against Russia in their opening match of Euro 2016 on Saturday night.

A 92nd-minute Vasili Berezutski header cancelled out a 73rd-minute Eric Dier free kick as Russia came from behind to secure a point in the Group B clash in Marseille.

Rooney has decided to take the positives from the contest, but has admitted that England have a "disappointed" dressing room after throwing away the chance to open their tournament with a win.

"I think we played well. We had some good chances, but did not take them. The lads are disappointed, but a lot of positives in there tonight. We played some good football, created chances and looked solid," Rooney told ITV Sport. "We are disappointed, but we have to move on. It is still a point."

Rooney was substituted for Jack Wilshere five minutes after England had taken the lead.

Joe Hart makes a clearance while on international duty with England on November 19, 2013.
