Result: Champions Leicester City sign off with a draw at Chelsea

A Danny Drinkwater goal eight minutes from time earns Leicester City a 1-1 draw from their trip to dethroned champions Chelsea.

Danny Drinkwater struck late on to ensure that champions Leicester City claimed a 1-1 draw from their trip to last season's table-toppers Chelsea.

The host were the better of the two teams during the first half, although they were unable to find a way past Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal.

Pedro was first to test the Danish goalkeeper in the eighth minute with a low shot down towards the near post, but Schmeichel was equal to the winger's effort.

Then, in the 39th minute, Willian's rising shot seemed destined for the top corner, only for Schmeichel to subsequently tip the ball over the crossbar with a one handed save.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri reacted to his side being second best by making two changes at the break, but it ended up back firing on him as one of those players - Jeffrey Schlupp - was involved in the moment that saw the Foxes fall behind in the 66th minute.

It was the winger that took down Nemanja Matic inside the box and Cesc Fabregas stepped up to convert the resultant penalty from 12 yards out.

However, Schlupp found an ally in Drinkwater eight minutes from the end when the England international was afforded plenty of space 25 yards from goal and he made the most of it with a well driven strike into the bottom corner.

Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham went closest to scoring a winning goal in the closing stages, but his effort from the edge of the box curled just wide.
