Chelsea progress through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Chelsea have booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough on Saturday night.

Romelu Lukaku netted for the third successive game in this season's competition before Hakim Ziyech's long-range second doubled Chelsea's advantage before the break.

Chelsea have won six successive matches, and will now wait to see which three other teams make the last four on Sunday.

Throughout the opening 45 minutes, Middlesbrough had their moments against the Premier League outfit, but two moments of quality ensured that Chelsea held a two-goal advantage at half time.

For the opener, Mason Mount was released down the right flank and after finding Lukaku with a perfect low cross, the forward could not miss from three yards out.

While the second was also well made, it was finished off with a moment of individual quality as Ziyech found the far bottom corner with a swerving effort from distance.

After the break, Middlesbrough always looked like they could cause Chelsea problems, but Chris Wilder's team lacked a clinical touch in and around the penalty area.

To a large degree, Chelsea coasted through the second half, meaning that the evening went according to plan for Thomas Tuchel's side who end a run of four matches in the space of 10 days with the perfect return.
