Midfielder Cesc Fabregas calls on Chelsea to show their "hunger" in Saturday's FA Cup final with Manchester United.

Midfielder Cesc Fabregas has acknowledged that Chelsea must show their passion during the FA Cup final with Manchester United.

On Sunday, Chelsea produced a poor performance during the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United, with the setback contributing to the Blues missing out on a place in next season's Champions League.

However, Chelsea have an opportunity to redeem themselves at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening, and Fabregas has acknowledged that the West Londoners must deliver an improved display.

The 31-year-old told Sky Sports News: "You have to feel the fire inside of you, the hunger you want to show on the pitch and this is something neither me or the coach can bring to the players. The fire - you have it or you don't have it and on Saturday we have to make sure everyone is on top of their game.

"It's the first day we are back training since the Newcastle defeat, obviously we need to play much better but I'm 100% sure we don't even have to say that.

"It's a final, it's a big game and I feel that normally in those games you shouldn't have to motivate players to play football because we do what we love and we always have to do it 120%.

Fabregas - who remained an unused substitute at St James' Park - has featured on 44 occasions in all competitions this season.
