Manuel Neuer signs new five-year contract with Bayern Munich

German World Cup-winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer signs a new five-year contract with Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich have announced that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has signed a new five-year contract with the Bundesliga giants.

The German World Cup winner, who joined Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2011, has committed himself to the club until 2021.

Neuer, who won FIFA's golden glove following his nation's triumph at the World Cup in Brazil two years ago, had been linked with a summer move to Manchester City.

It was rumoured that manager Pep Guardiola was keen to take Neuer with him to the Etihad Stadium when he leaves his post at Bayern at the end of the season.

However, the shot-stopper has opted against leaving the Allianz Arena and hopes to continue as Bayern's number one for the next few years.

Neuer has kept 19 clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season, which is more than any other goalkeeper.
