Southampton will announce the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before the start of the season, according to the player's agent.

Agent Soren Lerby has said that Southampton are on the brink of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Hojbjerg spent last season on loan at Schalke 04, where he made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga, but his representative has claimed that he will make the switch to the Premier League.

Lerby told Ekstra Bladet: "Yes, I can confirm that Pierre will switch to Southampton."

The Danish international has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Bayern after being handed his first-team debut by Pep Guardiola, but he found himself loaned out to Augsburg in January 2015 before spending the last 12 months at Schalke.

The 20-year-old would become Southampton's second summer signing after Nathan Redmond moved to St Mary's last month.
