Barcelona could send 21-year-old midfielder Gerard Gumbau on loan to Malaga in January, according to a report.

Barcelona will reportedly send Gerard Gumbau on loan to Malaga when the winter transfer window opens at the start of next month.

The 21-year-old came through the youth system at Girona, before making the move to Barcelona in 2014, initially representing their B team.

The midfielder has made eight first-team appearances in all competitions, however, after playing himself into favour with Luis Enrique.

According to COPE, Barcelona see Gumbau's future at Camp Nou but are keen to send the Spaniard on loan in January, with Malaga touted as the favourites.

Gumbau is currently contracted to Barcelona until 2017.
