Luis Enrique: "We were very fragile"

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique admits that his team "lacked fluency and accuracy" during Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Alaves.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has conceded that his team were far from their best in Saturday's shock home defeat to newly-promoted Alaves at Camp Nou.

Jeremy Mathieu cancelled out a first-half Deyverson effort to leave the two teams on terms early in the second period of the La Liga clash, but Ibai Gomez won it for the visitors in the 64th minute.

Enrique made a whole host of changes to his XI following the international break, and the Spaniard has said that his side "lacked fluency and accuracy" as they lost 2-1 on home soil.

"We were very fragile in defence, somewhere we've been very strong in other years, but we also lacked fluency and accuracy. It's clear we were very slow and uninspired," Enrique told reporters.

"We weren't well positioned and didn't occupy the spaces well throughout the first half. Alaves's second goal really hurt us because it was the demonstration of our defensive frailties, preceded by a defensive error.

"We didn't deserve to win and a draw was the most we could've got. It was like a bad cocktail. Still, we remain the favourites to win everything and we'll go at breakneck speed in trying to do so. This defeat shows how difficult it is to win games, and credit must go to this team because we've won everything in recent years."

Barcelona return to action with a Champions League clash against Celtic on Tuesday night.
