Report: Atletico Madrid target Argentine youngster Santiago Ascacibar

A report claims that Atletico Madrid want to sign Estudiantes' 19-year-old defensive midfielder Santiago Ascacibar.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Argentine teenager Santiago Ascacibar.

The 19-year-old, who represented his South American country at the 2016 Olympics, is currently contracted to Argentine outfit Estudiantes.

It is understood that a number of European clubs have watched the defensive midfielder this season, but according to Cronica, Atletico, despite their current transfer ban, lead the race for his signature.

Ascacibar made his debut for Estudiantes earlier this year and is contracted to the Primera Division outfit until the summer of 2019.
