Leeds United winger Raphinha has withdrawn from the Brazil squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers due to COVID-19.

Leeds United winger Raphinha has been forced to withdraw from the Brazil squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers due to COVID-19.

The 25-year-old was initially called up to Tite's 25-man squad on March 11 for their upcoming fixtures against Chile and Bolivia.

However, Raphinha tested positive for the virus last Thursday, which forced him to miss Leeds' 3-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers the following day, and he will also play no part on international duty this month.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has also pulled out as he and his girlfriend are expecting their first child.

Brazil have released a statement on their official website confirming the withdrawal of both players but it remains to be seen whether they intend to call up replacements.

Since making his debut for the Brazil national team in October last year, Raphinha has impressed for Tite's side, scoring three goals and registering two assists in seven appearances.

Following a spell in isolation, Raphinha is expected to return to first-team action with Leeds on April 2 when Jesse Marsch's side face Southampton in the Premier League at Elland Road.
