Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas reveals that the show could use "distanced dancing" this year in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Shirley Ballas has suggested that this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing could go ahead with socially distanced dancing.

The BBC is determined to ensure that the jewel of its Autumn schedules makes it to air as usual this year, despite the coronavirus pandemic presenting a production headache.

Current government guidelines require members of the public to maintain a two-metre distance from people outside of their household, meaning that Strictly's traditional routines, which involve close interaction, would not technically be allowed.

Speaking on Loose Women, head judge Ballas revealed: "I got sent an example of distanced dancing, you can do that. It's a little more difficult and challenging, but interesting.

"I am absolutely positive they will bring the best show they can - I couldn't imagine the autumn and winter months without the glitz and glamour."

Other possible measures on the table are thought to include outdoor dances and a ban or restriction on live studio audiences.
