Gerwyn Price records a thrilling 11-10 victory over home favourite Dirk van Duijvenbode to win the World Series Of Darts Finals.

Gerwyn Price has won the World Series Of Darts Finals with an 11-10 victory over Dirk van Duijvenbode in Amsterdam.

The 2020 champion spent periods of a thrilling showdown with the home favourite trailing by a solitary leg, but a number of three-figure checkouts kept him in the match.

While a 146 checkout in the 14th leg was the standout finish, taking out 121 and 115 in legs 16 and 17 helped swing the match in his favour before Van Duijvenbode managed to move a leg away from his first televised title.

However, Price proved too strong in the final two legs, producing further finishes of 85 and 90 to deny Van Duijvenbode a dream maiden crown.

Price and his Dutch opponent posted averages of 100.14 and 97.69 in a high-quality final, but it was their checkout ratios of 50% and 52.63% which stood out.

World number one Price had earlier reached the final with victories over Joe Cullen and James Wade by 10-8 and 11-9 scorelines respectively.

Meanwhile, Van Duijvenbode came through contests with Ryan Joyce and Jonny Clayton before pushing Price all the way in the showpiece.

This tournament begins the busiest period of the year for the PDC with the next televised tournament being the World Grand Prix, starting on October 3.
