Manny Pacquiao to fight for WBA welterweight title

Manny Pacquiao confirms that he will take on Lucas Matthysse in a title fight for the WBA welterweight belt.

Manny Pacquiao has announced that he will fight for the WBA welterweight title this summer.

The Filipino, who has been world champion at eight different weights, will face Argentine Lucas Matthysse for the belt on July 14.

The fight was announced on Twitter by promoter Oscar De La Hoya, and later confirmed by Pacquiao on his social media profiles.

Pacquiao has not fought competitively since losing the WBO welterweight title by unanimous points decision to Australia's Jeff Horn last July.

Matthysse, meanwhile, has won 36 of his 44 fights by knockout.
