Glenn Maxwell hits an unbeaten century as Australia record a five-wicket win over England in their T20 international in Hobart.

Australia have taken charge of the T20 Tri-series courtesy of a five-wicket win over England in Hobart.

The Baggy Greens began the series with a comfortable victory over New Zealand, and David Warner's side had few problems in ensuring that England began their campaign with a defeat.

The tourists reached 60-2 off just 37 balls but wickets fell at regular intervals with Dawid Malan's knock of 50 from 36 deliveries the only major contribution as England reached 155-9 off their 20 overs.

David Willey picked up two wickets inside the first over of Australia's reply but Glenn Maxwell put together a stunning innings, with an unbeaten 103 coming from just 58 balls.

D'Arcy Short (30) was the only other Australian player to reach double figures, but Maxwell secured success for his side with nine balls remaining.

The two teams meet again in Melbourne on Saturday, before the remaining matches take place in New Zealand.
