Nick Kyrgios pulls out of Rotterdam Open to play in NBA celebrity game

Rotterdam Open director Richard Krajicek confirms that Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the tournament to play in basketball's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game next February.

Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the Rotterdam Open in order to play in basketball's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game next February.

The 21-year-old received an invite to take part in the exhibition match, which is being held as part of the All-Star Weekend in the United States.

Rotterdam Open director Richard Krajicek confirmed that Kyrgios has been released from his contract so that he can take part in the basketball game, which clashes with the tournament.

"Kyrgios prefers his passion beyond his profession," Krajicek is quoted by BBC Sport as saying.

The Australian is suspended for eight weeks from the ATP Tour for not producing his "best effort" at the Shanghai Masters last week.
