Stanislas Wawrinka marks his first appearance since winning the US Open with a routine victory over Lukas Rosol in St Petersburg.

Stanislas Wawrinka has moved through to the quarter-finals of the St Petersburg Open with a comfortable victory over Lukas Rosol.

The world number three was making his first appearance since winning the US Open earlier this month, and he had few problems in dealing with his Czech opponent.

Rosol had taken Wawrinka the distance in their showdown at Roland Garros earlier this year, but the three-time Grand Slam winner was able to brush aside the big-hitting world number 85 in just under 58 minutes.

Wawrinka broke serve twice in each set to come through by a 6-3 6-1 scoreline, which sets up a meeting with either Viktor Troicki or Dusan Lajovic.
