Swinton Lions finalise plans for new stadium

Newly-promoted Swinton Lions finalise a deal to build a new stadium, as current ground Sedgeley Park does not meet the RFL requirements for Championship rugby.

Newly-promoted Swinton Lions have finalised a deal to build a new stadium, as current ground Sedgeley Park does not meet the RFL requirements for Championship rugby.

The club have signed a lease on a 7.3 acre site at Agecroft, which sits in between the boundaries of Swinton and Pendlebury.

So far this season the Lions have played their home matches at both Salford and Widnes, but they have signed a deal to play at Haywood Road, home of the Sale Sharks, until at least the end of this season.

Swinton are hoping to have their new stadium ready within the next three years and are working alongside Salford City Council in an attempt to make this happen.
