Lewis Hamilton paid tribute to his Mercedes team after claiming victory at the US Grand Prix on Sunday evening.

The Brit secured a fifth successive victory by overtaking teammate Nico Rosberg on the 24th lap, before holding off the attacks of the German to take a 24-point lead into the final two races of the season.

"I have an incredible team and an incredible car, and I had a great opponent today," Hamilton told the crowd after winning for the 32nd time in his Formula 1 career.

"It is such a privilege to represent my country and to be top of the drivers' standings. The car was great today."

The result in Austin means that the title can now only be won by either Hamilton or Rosberg.
