Report: David Moyes leading candidate for USA job

A report claims that David Moyes is in strong contention to replace Bruce Arena as manager of the United States from the end of the year.

Former West Ham United manager David Moyes is reportedly a leading candidate to become the USA's new national team manager.

The 55-year-old is said to have alerted American soccer chiefs that he is interested in the position, which has been vacant since Bruce Arena stepped down last October.

David Sarachan is currently in caretaker charge of the United States, but they intend to have a permanent appointment in place by the end of the year.

According to the Daily Mail, Moyes has given the United States Soccer Federation something to think about after reaching out, three months on from departing West Ham.

Home-grown coaches Gregg Berhalter and Peter Vermes are also thought to be in contention, as is Juan Carlos Osorio following his successful World Cup with Mexico.
