Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has urged his side to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in Group E of the Champions League this evening.

Spurs made it two defeats from two European outings at Wembley with an abject display against the Germans, prolonging their winless run in all competitions to six matches.

Dier came closest to rescuing a point with a late free kick that crashed against the crossbar, but he admits that his teammates are "very disappointed" with their performance ahead of Sunday's North London derby away to Arsenal.

"It was very disappointing that we couldn't score, not just me. We are all very disappointed and it leaves us in a difficult position now," he told reporters.

"We have to get back to work tomorrow and go again. If you want to be a big team you have to bounce back straight away so we have got to do that."

Spurs, who have now failed to score from open play in their last five matches, sit third in Group E following the defeat, two points adrift of second-place Leverkusen.
