Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that Kieran Tierney could be the answer to the Scotland national team's defensive crisis.

The Scots are short of centre-backs, and although Tierney plays at left-back for the Hoops, his manager says that he is versatile enough to feature centrally for Gordon Strachan's side on a regular basis.

"He can play on the outside of a back three absolutely no problem," the Daily Mail quotes Rodgers as saying. "He can sit in there and serve, he wants the ball, he can play, he is quick.

"So he is very multi-functional, has good ideas and is gaining confidence in passing and playing - he is a big talent."

Strachan deployed Tierney on the left-hand side of a back three during the 2-2 draw with England last month.
