Sergio Ramos is reportedly close to signing a new Real Madrid contract that will take him until the summer of 2021.

Sergio Ramos has been earmarked as the next key Real Madrid player to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu, according to a report.

The Spain defender has been a fixture in the Blancos' backline since his 2005 move from Sevilla, clocking up 530 appearances and scoring a remarkable 69 goals.

Ramos signed a five-year contract at the capital club in the summer of 2015, but according to Marca, the Real board want to keep the 31-year-old on their books for a further year.

Real are in the process of renewing the contracts of numerous players at the club, with Karim Benzema, Marcelo, Isco and Dani Carvajal all putting pen to paper in the last few weeks.

There was a similar flurry of new deals last autumn, when Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez all signed long-term extensions.

Ramos has won four La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey and three Champions League trophies during his time at Real.
